Winter Holidays in Gudauri

Day 1-Arrival / Ananuri / Gudauri

Arrival at Tbilisi Int. airport and transfer to Gudauri. En route, visit Ananuri a castle and seat of the eristavis (Dukes) of Aragvi, a feudal dynasty which ruled the area from the 13th century. In 2007, the complex has been on the tentative list for inclusion into the UNESCO World Heritage Site program. We will also visit the Zhinvali Reservoir. Arrival to Gudauri and hotel check-in. Free evening.

 

Day 2-Free day / Gudauri

After breakfast, free day. The visitor will have the chance to enjoy skiing and other winter sports and activities available at Gudauri resort. Overnight in Gudauri.

 

Day 3-Free day / Gudauri

After breakfast, free day. The visitor will have the chance to enjoy skiing and other winter sports and activities available at Gudauri resort. Overnight in Gudauri.

 

Day 4-Free day / Gudauri

After breakfast, free day. The visitor will have the chance to enjoy skiing and other winter sports and activities available at Gudauri resort. Overnight in Gudauri.

 

Day 5-Free day / Gudauri

After breakfast, free day. The visitor will have the chance to enjoy skiing and other winter sports and activities available at Gudauri resort. Overnight in Gudauri.

 

Day 6-Tbilisi / Mtskheta

After breakfast, departure to Tbilisi. En route, visit to Mtskheta, ancient capital of Georgia. The cities’ cultural monuments are under UNESCO protection and have been declared as world heritage monuments. We visit the Svetitskhoveli, Cathedral of Mtskheta, where is saved the biggest treasure of the Georgian Church, the Shirt of the Lord. Also visit the monastery of Jvari. Arrival in Tbilisi and city tour. We visit Old Tbilisi, Meidan, sulfur baths, Holy Trinity Cathedral, the fortress Narikala, Metekhi plateau, The Peace glass bridge, the Old city wall, Sharden street and other sightseeing. In the evening, hotel check-in and dinner at a traditional Georgian restaurant, with Georgian delicacies along with traditional Georgian music and dance.

 

Day 7-Departure

In the morning, check-out, transfer to the Tbilisi Int. Have a good journey back home!

 

Optional excursions:

 

Kazbegi: After breakfast, departure to Stepantsminda(former Kazbegi), known for its scenic location in the Greater Caucasus mountains, which is also a center for trekkers and mountain climbers. Visit Gergeti Sameba Church (XIV c.) at the height of 2170 meters, and the Sno Fortress. Walk through the town let and along the Georgian Military Road.
 

Kakheti: Journey to Kakheti, called the land of vines and birthplace of wine, as here grow 500 grape varieties of all 2000 known worldwide. We visit Sighnaghi, a small and very beautiful town in the eastern part of Kakheti. It is called the “City of Love”, because only here Wedding Chapels operate around the clock!

Lunch and wine tasting at a local winery. Here you can take part to the preparation of churchkhela (Georgian national delicacy made of hazelnuts and grape juice) and bake homemade bread.

We also visit Bodbe, one of the major pilgrimage sites in Georgia, as it is associated to Nino of Cappadocia (4th c. female Georgian evangelist).
