Round of Georgia in 12 Days

12 days / 11 nights

 

Day 1-Arrival

Arrival at Tbilisi International Airport and hotel transfer. Tbilisi city tour: Old Tbilisi, Meidan, sulfur baths, Holy Trinity Cathedral, the fortress Narikala, Metekhi plateau, The Peace glass bridge, the Old city wall, Sharden street and other sightseeing. Mtskheta(ancient capital of Georgia) city tour:  The cultural monuments of the region are under UNESCO protection and have been declared as world heritage monuments. We visit the Svetitskhoveli, Cathedral of Mtskheta, where is saved the biggest treasure of the Georgian Church, the Shirt of the Lord. Also visit the monastery of Jvari. Dinner and overnight in Tbilisi.

 

Day 2-Signagi / Bodbe

After breakfast, departure to Signagi, the capital of wine and “Love City” of Georgia. The city will fascinate you with its traditional architecture, beautiful streets and cozy atmosphere, while overlooking the Alazani valley. Lunch and wine tasting of fine Georgian local wines at a local winery. Visit Bodbe, one of the major pilgrimage sites in Georgia, as it is associated to Nino of Cappadocia (4th c. female Georgian evangelist). Departure to Tbilisi and overnight.

 

Day 3-Stepantsminda(Kazbegi)

After breakfast, departure to Ananuri, a castle and seat of the eristavis (Dukes) of Aragvi, a feudal dynasty which ruled the area from the 13th century. In 2007, the complex has been on the tentative list for inclusion into the UNESCO World Heritage Site program. Visit Stepantsminda(former Kazbegi), known for its scenic location in the Greater Caucasus mountains, which is also a center for trekkers and mountain climbing. Overnight in Stepantsminda.

 

Day 4-Stepantsminda / Kutaisi

After breakfast, visit Gergeti Sameba Church (XIV c.) The church is situated on the right bank of the river Chkheri, at an elevation of 2170 meters, under Mount Kazbegi. Also, visit Sno fortress at village Khevi. Departure to Kutaisi, capital of the ancient Kingdom of Colchis and land of the “Golden Fleece”. Overnight in Kutaisi.

 

Day 5-Kutaisi

After breakfast Kutaisi city tour: White Bridge, Pushkin Street, Monplaris, old building of the college, city Garden and State Historical Museum, Bagrati Cathedral. Visit ancient monasteries Gelati (XII c.) and Motsameta (XVII c.). Also, visit Sataplia caves, known for the dinosaur footprints found. Overnight in Kutaisi.

 

Day 6-Mestia

After breakfast, check-out and departure to Mestia. Mestia, is a highland townlet in northwest Georgia, at an elevation of 1,500 metres in the Caucasus Mountains and belongs to the Svaneti province. The scenery of the “Svan towers” (typical Svan fortified dwelling), will fascinate the visitor. Also, visit the house museum of famous Georgian alpinist “Mikheil Khergiani” and the Historical-Ethnographic Museum. Overnight in Mestia.

 

Day 7-Ushguli

After breakfast, departure to Ushguli. Ushguli is the highest inhabited village in Europe, built at 2200 meters. It is a community of four villages and because of the uniqueness of its buildings it has become part of the UNESCO Heritage site project. Departure to Mestia and overnight.

 

Day 8-Zugdidi / Batumi

After breakfast, departure to Zugdidi. Visit the “House of Dadiani” museum, a ruling dynasty of the western Georgian province of Samegrelo. Departure to Batumi, major port and seaside resort of Georgia. We visit the Batumi Botanical Garden, approximately 10km away from Batumi. The Park is considered as one of the biggest in Europe, and has a great collection of different kinds of plants from all over the world. Batumi city tour. Overnight in Batumi.

 

Day 9-Vardzia

After breakfast, check-out and departure to Vardzia. Vardzia is cave monastery dug into the side of the Erusheli mountain, founded by Queen Tamar in 1185. The caves stretch along the cliff for some five hundred metres and in up to nineteen tiers. Overnight in Akhaltsikhe.

 

Day 10-Borjomi

After breakfast, visit Borjomi, famous for its mineral spring waters and frequently chosen as travel destination for medical tourism. Visit the Borjomi National Park and city tour. Visitors will have the chance to take SPA and wellness treatments. Overnight in Borjomi.

 

Day 11-Gori / Uplistsikhe / Tbilisi

After breakfast, check-out and departure to Gori, birthplace and house museum of Joseph Stalin, General Secretary of the USSR (1922-1953). Visit Uplitsikhe, an ancient rock-hewn town, which is considered as the oldest urban settlement in Georgia. Dinner at a traditional Georgian restaurant with Georgian delicacies under the rhythms of traditional Georgian music and dances. Overnight in Tbilisi.

 

Day 12-Departure

In the morning, check-out, transfer to the Tbilisi Int. airport.  Have a good journey back home!
